As an organization, Peridot Births, is passionate about birth justice, with a special personal interest in Black birthing families. As a postpartum doula, I support cultural practices that can improve feelings around this crucial healing time. I incorporate universally traditional practices for postpartum recovery, such as belly binding, herbal baths, vaginal steaming, body rubs and nourishing foods..

We are so glad Leslie was our postpartum doula! We interviewed a couple of doulas and Leslie was by far the most knowledgeable and experienced - she has completed a lot of doulas trainings and it really shows in her work as she was able to provide us with great resources and guidance. I also appreciated her knowledge of non-Western postpartum traditions, including the Chinese tradition of “sitting the month” and her making me the appropriate food and drinks for that time period.
